The pastmaster scripts another legend
Had my last footer words for lunch and relished it. Am so happy to have been proven wrong!!!
Pure music. Form for the starved soul. The brilliance that is Zizou cannot be surpassed. Ronaldiniho, your good but not that good. A virtuoso prformance that leaves us gasping for more. By far the performance of the cup but an aged but inspired team.
Saw the 2nd half. 45 mins of pure brilliance. The Brazilians did not know what struck them. The deft touches, the incisive passes, the quick feet, the bursts of speed, the uncompromising in your face defence, the marshalled mid field...
I will never be able to do justice to the performance with words. But want to mention players who caught my eye. Zizou at his inspired best at everything he does. Combined with Henry for their first goal and what an occasion for the occuring. Makelele, Gallas and Thuram for stifling Ronaldo, Ronaldiniho, Adriano, Kaka and Juniniho and the gang. Viera, rock solid in the middle of the park and always a threat upfront. Ribery (notice I got the spelling right) for his inspired runs. Scared the living daylights out of the Brazilian defence and I believe they were lucky to survive a couple of close chances. And of course SN's # 1 Thierry Henry (I did not believe I could be inspired by any individual as much as I am by TH. A true roll modle for me). Much has been said in the recent past to malign the artist. Could not perform at the highest level they said. You cant win them all, but perhaps some of them will defect over and the others will be silenced for a while.
The game however belonged to the pastmaster. Zizou has shown the world what true footer is and he chose to shine again. Cometh the hour cometh the man.
