Nothing to smile about

"Words from the past come to haunt us or shall we call it the comentators curse. Did say that once mentally switched off its going to be really tough to come back."

Argentina made it, but just about scraped through if you ask me. And while the whole-hearted performance from a resurgent Mexico side had quite a bit to do with it, I am of the opinion that the cracks started appearing in the game against the Dutch. The game at this level is not very forgiving and if you have the momentum you need to keep up the pace. If not there is every likelyhood that you could fall along the way. Last eves performance did certainly seem to suggest that we were not viewing the same team that thrashed S&M 6-0.

In the end it took a moment of majic from that man Maxi Rodriguez to restore balance in favor of the Latin Americans. What a strike!!! Am totally at a loss of words for the fabulous piece of skill from both Sorin and Maxi to create, execute and finish. Given the lacklustre performance till then it seemed like the elves led by non other than the able Legolas had descended from Elrond to give us ordinary mortals a taste of what is needed. From then on for the remaining 22 odd mins it looked like a different ball game. The Argentines had found their true place under the sun. If they keep up the inspired performance things auger well for them.

The other game (Germany / Sweden) was extremely depressing in comparison. I am going to restrict myself to saying that Freddie and the boys played really below par. Cant wait to see the germans getting thrashed by the Arigentines.

Signing off for now. Expect more on the England game tommorrow.
