I came back fat (relatively)
Writers block; has struck me not. Am too young in this space to be diagnosed with such symptoms. The news I am afraid is far worse. I was actually working for most of last week. "Dude we are loosing you" I hear your fading voices scream. The guys in the NOC say Sanjay is 'on' the screen. Houston we may have a problem here, this engine is actually firing.
Well work (and its unpleasent offshoots) stand in the way of progress (what with the all new envt at AES) and guess I have got to bite the bullet for a while. At least its change and in perhaps a primal manner satisfies that owerpowering instinct that drives me. Those of you who have see 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' and enjoyed it as much as I did will probably recollect the scene where Redford "the Kid" proves his shooting prowess to the Mexican miners. Much like "the Kid" SN operates best when on the move. Not for me the staid and static view that the Interface windows and meeting rooms provide.
Mondays are bad enough on their own. Add having to wake up early in the mng to head out of town and you have the perfect weekend wrecker. Thats precisely how the week began for me. Pune was the destination, cab the chariot and expressway the road. Picked up a colleague and made our way. The vada pav at the 1st stop is no consolation, but is balm to the aching soul. I have no intention of downloading the weeks activities in cronological order. Will bore you to death and probably kill myself writing if I do that. So needless to say did this and that and got through the day. Was to head to Delhi in the eve so had carried my stuff, but it was not to be and ended up coming back to Mumbai late eve. Resisted the vada pav on the way back, dined at home.
Headed to Hyd on wed mng. Was supposed to be doing just one meeting there and was looking forward to a sumptuous Biryani for lunch. No such luck. Had to settle for 'Tibbs frankee' at a stall at our office complex. That and a truck load of work. Folks Hyd is catching up. The traffic jams at Begumpet can rival anything you see at Bom. The people at Jet refused us 2 passes to the lounge there though. Were headed to the capital city.
For the last couple of days Stephen and I were worried about where we were going to lodge at Delhi. Our admin guys had conjured up some new place "kshitij Royale". Strictly avoidable. Am going to avoid staying in Gurgaon if I can help it. Its awfull. The breakfast was bad (a first in Delhi for me) and they refused to arrange a car for us. Ended up delaying us by over an hour and a half. Back from Delhi to G'town. Headed to PVR at Metropolitan with the remenants and additions to the old movie club. Were subjected to 15 mins of Date movie after which some of us chose to quit the hall. There is only that much torture that a man can bear in a day. Needless to say will not be doing a review. In hindsite walking out seemed like an expensive desicion. Came out and bought a Squash racket at the Planet Sports. Must make it a point to mention that you get the best deals in Delhi / g'town. The sales there are for real. Bought the gang a beer at TGF.
Headed to that landmark 'Convergys Dhaba' for a bite. The 24 X 7 service at the Dhabas (yes there are many of them sharing the space, much like a food court) probably deliver a better SLA than most other service providers. Tasty, large generous helpings and always available. What else could one ask for.
Had Pizzas for lunch the next day. The Jet folks at Delhi airport are probably a little more "customer focussed". They gave us 2 lounge cards. Had a pint.
What your probably asking yourselves is the objective of this post. As I read for myself, must confess that it seems to lack direction and seems as meaningless as meandering at the mall. The poor chap you must be thinking. Had so much potential, and then this. My sympathy and apologies.... Was trying to make a small point though. When I got back home, mom says I seem to have gained weight (what????). So this directionless post is my way of trying to figure what I gorged on to elicit such an observation.
The scale probably dosent agree with mom.
More weighty issues will follow. Keep your eyes peeled.
